Ah, yes, the Happy Birthday season. 'Tis true, quite true, that I just celebrated my 27th birthday. It's was a biggie, too, as some really great things occurred. For one, I was harrassed at a Mexican eatery. Our fantastic server bumped herself down a notch or two by busting out the sombrero that you see on the sidebar. The scene was straight out of a movie: the whole place is loud with singing, a humiliating thing happening to the honored guest, and a Polaroid camera coming out of nowhere at the end of the chaos to chronicle the blessed event. Yes, I shall always cherish this birthday, because, deep down, it was fun. We also went to the State Fair that evening and Liz and I just enjoyed being together. We didn't hardly do anything, but just being out and about was joyful. (I must admit, I did smoke her little bum on the Big Yellow Slide. That brings my victories in this marriage to a sum total of two.) The pinnacle, however, of my birthday weekend (oh, yes, we extended the festivities all weekend) was being able to assist in the blessing of my little niece. I've never done it before, and to be asked was an incredible honor. I've got the most darling little girl as a relative and I was happy to be a part of her "religious christening." That said, I'm out. But, before I go: good bye.
Happy (late) birthday...that's a sweet sombrero!
